Our final day takes us from Cahir to Viking Waterford and Tintern Abbey, then across to Fishguard for the overnight drive home.

The journey home begins with coffee in Castlegregory, a final look at the beaches of the Maharees, a tour of Cahir Castle and some exceptionally good campsite strawberries.

A spectacular final circuit of the Dingle Peninsula takes in ancient clocháin, whales off Dunmore Head, the Blasket Centre, Gallarus Oratory and one legally questionable campervan descent of the Conor Pass.

A wet and wonderfully wild RIB trip from Dingle takes us through sea caves and out to the Blasket Islands, where grey seals, minke whales and common dolphins make the difficult camera conditions entirely worthwhile.

A final drive over Moll’s Gap takes us from Kenmare to Dingle, with a windswept stop on Inch Beach before meeting two memorable campsite hosts and accidentally finding one of the busiest restaurants in town.

A cancelled Skelligs boat trip sends us around the Skellig Ring instead, taking in the Kerry Cliffs, Ballinskelligs, Waterville, Derrynane, Sneem and Kenmare.

A ferry ride to Valentia Island leads to the Skellig Experience, Portmagee, misty views from Bray Head and a very hilly search for 385-million-year-old tetrapod footprints.

A third trip over Moll’s Gap leads to an LPG refill in Killarney, Ross Castle, Killorglin and beaches along the Ring of Kerry before a damp night at Mannix Point.

A misty drive over Moll’s Gap leads to Muckross House, Torc Waterfall and Muckross Abbey, before an evening in Kenmare.

A memorable cable-car trip to Dursey Island, a winding drive through Allihies and Eyeries, and a spectacularly situated—but decidedly quirky—night at Creveen Lodge.
