A quickie for this one.
A local Club member popped over to the local meet for the first time a couple of months ago (even though he’d been an owner for 30 years) and as we got talking he explained about his electric karts… and offered for me to have a play one day.
Well as you can imagine, I took him up on the offer. To demonstrate, here’s a quick 90 second waste of your life that you’ll never get back.
Andrew has converted these standard go-karts with bigger wheels and sprockets, but also an electric drive-train.
The kit is mostly from China and is comprised of a 7kW motor, motor controller and battery management system. There’s Lithium batteries giving about a 90 minute run time.
The motor runs on 72V and there’s also an HV to 12V DCDC that powers lights for night driving… definitely need to try that some time 🤣
Andrew says the karts are good for about 50kmh and I can well believe it after an hour of hooning around his meadow.
Thanks Andrew.
