Last full day on Corfu and the weather has been much kinder – 27C, a refreshing breeze and no rain!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve been told, by Yeota, the villa owner, that this sort of weather is very unusual. They might get a day of rain in September, but not this many days in a row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So to make the most of it we headed to the quietest and therefore prettiest beach we\u2019d come across, Avlaki beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parking area, can\u2019t really call it a car park, at the end of the beach was just a gravel strip. We tried parking at the end of it, but the gravel was very loose and we nearly got stuck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The water was really warm and the fish were swimming around underneath us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And every so often the fruit seller passes through with \u201cNecturinos, Melon\u2026 very good!\u201d Over a tannoy from his van\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And after a swim, a dry off and even a book reading in the van, we wandered down the beach to the Cavo Barbaro cafe\/restaurant we went to on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We were told by the waiter that the sleek black boat we\u2019d seen cruising around Kassiopi was and exclusive, and very expensive, boat taxi. It was ferrying a French family this afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And by this time it\u2019s late afternoon and so we headed back to the villa to start the leaving\u2026 after we\u2019d visited Nikos Minimarket for the last time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once back at the Mylos Villa we were into leaving mode. Running around packing stuff into bags and tidying things up. Phil and Linda have a car booked at 6 in the morning to whisk them away to Corfu Airport and then onto to Paros and Athens for a week, Dubai for a few days and then home to Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The villa owner, Yeota, came over to the villa and we had a chat for about 10 minutes about her main business being with Brits, but now more Romanians and Serbians. Also the weather being so poor. She went to university in Newcastle in the early 2000\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And then a drive down to Kassiopi for a final meal in town. We\u2019d been trying to get into the Old School restaurant all week. And after an aborted attempt to eat at the Tavernaki again (they were a bit grumpy and there was no Moussaka on the menu tonight) we took a table at Old School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeing as it was our last night, we all went for the Moussaka. Not the best we\u2019d had, but an enjoyable final meal together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was a big wedding going off in the centre of town, a cousin of our waitress, which had caused staff shortages and one of the restaurants to close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then back to the van via the bakery for more Baklava! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we got back to the van, we\u2019d been hemmed in at the back. From what we can tell it was a doctor just arrived to deliver a baby\u2026 but that\u2019s a very wild guess judging by his doctors bag and the cheers that emanated from the house he went into. He may have just been bringing in the weeks supply of Baklava!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back to the villa to finish off a Netflix movie, Unbroken, and then head to bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomorrow we head back to Igoumenitsa for one night, then another ferry to Brindisi. From there things are a bit fluid still but thinking we\u2019ll head towards Naples, then Rome, Milan and then home. Satnav says 1739 miles to home\u2026 it\u2019ll be more than that though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
