Today has been a bit of a bonus day. We hadn\u2019t mentally got an extra day on Corfu so we decided to make the most of it and headed into Corfu Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also had an airport pickup to do at 14:30 as Sue\u2019s brother Phil, and wife Linda were flying in from Naples for a few days of family time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a bit of research we headed for Corfu Parking #2 and a walk around the old town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Double parking is the norm and nobody takes any prisoners. Though it\u2019s all pretty congenial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parking wasn\u2019t cheap at \u20ac7 for the day, but there were people guiding you to spaces and that meant the parking was monitored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking #2 puts you next to the new fort, that we weren\u2019t so keen to visit with a limited time available\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then we headed through the Old Town, stopping at St Spiridon\u2019s church where you can queue to see some of his relics. No pictures allowed in the church. A crazy saint who apparently died in the 4th century but was still working miracles in 1700s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quite funny to see a policeman (loving the Greek uniform of t-shirt and shorts) come into the church and have a heated discussion with the orthodox priest, we could only imagine the subject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The streets are a mix of tourist stuff and slightly more locals focused. Nice to see the tourists haven\u2019t completely taken over\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then we wandered over to the old fort area. Definitely want to do this at some point but we had limited time, the queues were quite long and there were more cruise coaches arriving by the second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we sat outside the old fort, we took a selfie and recorded a happy-birthday message for our friend Will\u2019s birthday today. We\u2019ve been sending Will a postcard from every country we visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was then a question of heading to the airport for our taxi job. We parked in a designated car park, but could almost certainly have got away with parking out the front of the terminal, or cruising around the block, until P&L arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One crazy thing about Corfu airport is that when the planes take off, there\u2019s a road that\u2019s so close to the end of the runway, that a traffic light system stops the traffic so cars doesn\u2019t get blown off the road by the jet wash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once back at the hotel we spent an hour in the pool catching up, after 8 years of not seeing each other. Then headed to Sebastian\u2019s for a meal. Highly recommended. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though oddly when we rang to book a table they said \u201cthe weathers been odd, you can come and try for a table if you like\u201d. There was lots of space when we arrived at 8 but very little when we left at 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I think I mentioned yesterday, the town of Agios Gordios is very odd. Sub-Blackpool in terms of tack. There\u2019s just endless mini-supermarkets, scooter hire shops and restaurants. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
